Invitation

Good morning, and/or Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen!

First of all, thank you very much for joining this Forum.

On behalf of the Korean Foundation for Cancer Research, KFCR, I would like to warmly welcome you to the Seoul International Gastric Cancer Forum 2024, or as a byname, the 53rd workshop of Korean Laparoendoscopic Gastrointestinal Surgery Study Group (KLASS), hosted by KFCR.

The KFCR was founded in 1988, and has held annually the Seoul International Gastric Cancer Forum since 2012. This year, the KLASS of the Korean Gastric Cancer Association (KGCA), and Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH) support this Forum. I greatly appreciate Dr. Keun Won Ryu, the chairperson of the KGCA, and Dr. Seung-Wan Ryu, the President of KLASS, and Prof. Han-Kwang Yang, SNUH, for their supporting.

And I appreciate Prof. Do Joong Park, SNUH, for his organization of today’s program.
I think myself that this Seoul International Gastric Cancer Forum has been one of the most successful meetings for the gastric cancer research and treatment, every year.

In this Forum, several innovative issues on gastric cancer research, surgery, and multimodal approach etc. such as AI or robotic gastrectomy, epidemiology, host-microbiome interactions, systemic treatments, and clinical trials etc, are to be presented and discussed in detail. In addition, two special invited lectures will be given by Prof. Yuko Kitagawa, Japan, and Prof. Han-Kwang Yang, Korea.

Today, we are very fortunate to have with us here, or on-line, many world famous leading and phenomenal clinicians, as well as eminent scientists on those areas, as chairpersons, special lecturers and speakers, discussants and commentators, from one international agency and 11 countries in the world. For instance, International Agency for Research on Cancer, WHO(IARC) in France, and China, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mongolia, Singapore, Thailand, USA, and Vietnam. I’d like to express my special appreciation to them for their acceptance of our invitation.

In addition, I’d like to note that a special event, “Award Ceremony” is put in the middle of program. A ceremony of the “19th Jin-Pok Kim’s Award for the Best Cancer Research in Korea” will be held. I believe all the audiences will enjoy the awardee’s presentation on his accomplishment. And another one, “KFCR’s Award for the Best Doctoral Thesis on Oncology” will be held, also.

Finally, once again I’d like to bid again a warm-hearted welcome you all to participate in this meeting. And my special thanks to those who have taken time to be here or join the meeting, out of their year-end busy schedule.

I wish all of you may fully enjoy today’s program until the end, and a resounding success of today’s Forum.
